That calmness is starting to be rewarded after the Breakers made it two in the trot with a comprehensive 40-10 hammering of Old Bar on Saturday.

The Pirates scored first, but then the Breakers started to find their rhythm with hooker Matt Everitt, five-eighth Josh Hyde and halfback Adrian Daley settling into their work.

The combination between the trio are starting to see a more consistent performance from the side after a clunky start to the season, especially in attack.

"We've been fortunate in the last three weeks to have the same nine, seven, six and one training together and now it's all moving in the right direction," Kemp said.

"Now we've worked out the little riddle of who goes where, they'll keep working at it.

"All those little things that take time ... it took us four or five weeks to come up with what our team was and now that we have, those combinations are starting to improve every week."

While the Breakers are not getting too carried away with their last two performances, Kemp knew it was only a matter of time before their luck started to change.

"While ever you have a squad as talented as they are and work as hard as they do and care as much as they do ... success has to turn at some stage," he said.

"I wouldn't go getting too excited yet, it's only two wins against two teams that aren't at their best at the moment.

"We still have lots of work to do."

The Breakers coach wasn't too worried about when the sides above them would start looking over their shoulders.

But on current form it would be a case of sooner rather than later.

"They can worry about each other, we'll just chip along and do what we're doing," he said.

"With a stroke of luck we won't have too many more setbacks like we did in the first four or so weeks because it seemed like we had setback after setback and now we're on a bit of a fortunate run.

"If we can keep that going, we'll end up at a decent level of footy, I've got no doubt."

The Breakers led 16-4 at the break and went on with the job in the second half.

They now turn their attention to a local derby showdown with Port Macquarie next Saturday.

"Big game next weekend," Kemp said.

"Everything is very positive at the moment; we've got to keep moving in the right direction and don't fall off the train."
