On Sunday, May 19 the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Ellenborough Fall to reports of a hang glider-paraglider stuck in trees.
However the mission was called off and the helicopter returned to the Tamworth base.
The service said after locating a parachute at the bottom of the falls it had been confirmed that two people had base-jumped from the top and one had left their chute behind in their haste to leave the area.
Base jumping is banned in Australia.
