Before 4am on May 17, Port Macquarie police and fire crews were called to the Port Macquarie Golf Club after reports of a burning car on the course.
Port Macquarie police chief inspector Mick Aldridge said the car had been stolen the day before.
"The car was fully alight when police and fire crews arrived on the scene," Chief inspector Aldridge said.
"The car had appeared to have been driven on a number of greens before coming to a stop in the 10th fairway," Mr Aldridge said.
"Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire. The car is a 2005 silver Nissan X-Trail which we believe was stolen from a Port Macquarie address yesterday afternoon."
Daniel Constable CEO of Port Macquarie Golf Club said the car presented a temporary, new challenge for golfers.
"There was some damage to a few fairways and around 20 square metres will need to be re-turfed but it is business as usual today," Mr Constable said.
"Currently it is a short term unique challenge for our golfers out today."
Police investigations are continuing.
