The other reports a rising level of animals and plant extinction around the globe, one million animal and plant species threatened with extinction, with Australia leading with the first or second highest rates of extinctions in the world.
Sixty-four per cent of adult Australians rate climate change at the top of the list of 12 possible threats to Australia's vital interests.
We are facing a growing ecological and existential crisis.
One such example is the unprecedented massive increase in intensive logging being carried in local forests stripping our forests bare, doubling the cut of small logs to be wood chipped and pelletised and burnt in furnaces to generate electricity.
This coupled with other excessive land clearing here on the North Coast is destroying critical habitat and is also seriously affecting our ability to mitigate against climate change. Koalas are likely to be extinct locally in 30 years or less. They are the canary in a coal mine saying "Stop! Dangerous conditions ahead possibly fatal".
Our LNP politicians have only one simple message in response to these facts: "Trust us, we provide good, sound economic management".
More people are worried that something is seriously wrong and that continuing "business as usual" is no longer good enough.
