The A grade Wauchope Giants baseballers got off to a quick start at Blackbutt Oval on Sunday against the Middle Rock Mariners.

The Giants put together seven safe hits and picked out four walks in an impressive start to the game, taking a commanding eight to nil lead. The Mariners fought back putting together five safe hits.
The highlight of the Giants game was Mick Gough missing a home run by centimetres. The Mariners in reply were kept scoreless for four innings before finding their bats in the 5th and 6th innings, batting in five runs. The final score was 10-5.
In B grade, Giants versus Mariners turned into a very one sided affair.
Justin Willingham was the stand out for the Giants. Justin pitched five innings giving up 13 hits striking out four and walking two. He also had a great game with the bat recording five hits from five times to bat.
Mariners were hitting plenty but just could not convert to runs. Matt Lindsay and Ray Beaucroft were best with the bat.

All day, the park was bathed in sunshine with laughter from Diamonds filled with happy children as the juniors got their season off to a great start.
