The mammoth three day, 180 competitor bowls marathon which attracts interstate teams is held in three locations and worth $7500 in prize money from June 14 to June 16.
Club champions, husband and wife pairs and dynamic friendship duos will rotate through three separate club sponsored greens at the Westport Club, Port City Bowling Club and Hibbard Sports Club.
Port City bowls coordinator Phil Baker said being left standing at the end of the tournament was all about consistency of play across the three days.
"This year we have had over 60 entries with teams from South Australia, Victoria, Newcastle, Central Coast, Queensland, Brisbane and our own local clubs," he said.
"We're looking to get 80 teams, which is quite a lot but that is what we are expecting.
"Many local teams leave their entries to the last minute usually."
During the competition players will complete eight in games.
"It's highly competitive," said Mr Baker.
"These are some of the best mixed bowls players in town once each year.
"The most interesting feature of the tournament is the rotations of play between the three clubs, it opens up the competition with different greens and different conditions.
"Consistency will be key, with players aiming to pick up the speed of each green quickly.
"It makes the competition quite unique."
