After an encouraging opening two rounds of the AFL North Coast senior season, the Magpies returned to earth with a thud during a 46-point drubbing to Coffs Harbour last weekend.
They want to bounce back in the home surrounds of Wayne Richards Park under lights on Saturday when Sawtell-Toormina travel south.
While disappointed to be comprehensively beaten in their last start, Schmidt acknowledged there were a few factors that contributed to the loss.
"We stuck with them pretty well for three quarters, but then they killed us," he said.
"A couple of the boys backed up from reserve grade so we pretty much ran out of legs.
"They found some gaps in our team late in the match, but there's nothing to be concerned about."
The Magpies handed out a drubbing of their own to the Saints with a 55-point victory at Richardson Park in round one.
Now they want to repeat the dose.
"We want to be pretty strong defensively and to limit them to no more than six goals would be nice," Schmidt said.
Reserve grade will be the first match of the day at a later start time of 2.30pm with the women's fixture to start at 4pm.
Under-17s start at 12.40pm with the first bounce in first grade to take place at 5.30pm.
