IT has been former Port Macquarie boy Cameron Wurf's race to lose after making his move on the pack mid-way through the 180km Ironman bike leg.
Wurf, a former St Agnes Primary school student, is up against his rival and 2016 Ironman winner Tim Reed in the race to the finish line.
Wurf held a six minute lead into the run with Reed, Mark Bowstead and Denis Chevrot nipping at his heels.
The race finish is expected to be one of the fastest we've seen in perfect conditions.
In the women's race, Laura Siddall claimed the lead over Port Macquarie's Caroline Steffen at the tail end of the bike leg but the local girl found strength on the run to close the gap and regain her position at the front.
We are set up for a thrilling finale.
