The Easter Cup is a stand-alone race, not part of any other point scores, that allows people to spend Easter with families or away although this certainly didn't seem to affect numbers this year with good fleets taking part.
The catamarans and monohulls raced together, and the results calculated on yardstick.
The sunny skies were certainly a draw card, but the promised North Easter didn't fill in until the race was starting, which then helped with the run-out tide.
The smaller monohulls found the conditions very suitable, and after well over an hour of racing, Martina Holt in Spellbound won the day by 3 seconds over Roger Shipton in Zasoo, who was in turn 18 seconds ahead of third place Terry Howard in Ratz.
Frank O'Rourke on Dino was next followed by Tony Kuhn on Stella who was 1 second ahead of Steve Couch in Rainbow, then came Simon Gandy, Ron Auschner, and Bridgette Taylor in Voyager, Rob Barwick on Drift, Mick Hodgson in Big Blue, and Dave Winter on Spica.
Jane Cooper in Pineapple was going well until she broke her mast, a victim of corrosion, and Ed Molony and Steve Bohlsen rigged Ed's revamped Cherub, St. Elmo, ready to race, but found a few things not working properly so could only look on.
The juniors were pumped after a number of them had been sailing a lot of the week at the Combined High Schools (CHS) regatta at Belmont and sailed well again in this race.
Elsa Gandy and Isla Hicks in Sailfish took the win over Caitlyn Hicks and Liam Halmi in Britannia and Jett Hodgson in Baby Blue.
Next Sunday is the last race of the season - race nine of the summer series starting at 1pm.
Dave Winter is rostered on duty, and there is a barbecue after the race.
There is a working bee at the club next Sunday at 10.30am, and the presentation night is on May 11 at 5pm.
