Local holiday-makers can expect a few showery days before the weather clears for ANZAC Day on April 25 and has a cooler change over the April 27 weekend, according to Weatherzone meteorologist Kim Westcott.

"Over the next few days (Tuesday and Wednesday) there are expected to be a few showers with temperatures around 25 or 26 degrees," she said.

"ANZAC Day temperatures around 13 degrees in the morning with a sunny top of 27 degrees.

"Friday is expected to be 13 degrees in the morning rising to 28 with a cooler change through Saturday at 23, and by Sunday mostly sunny at 25 degrees."

Those heading out to ANZAC Day commemorations can expect sunrise around 6.15am.

In the water locally, Port Macquarie-Hastings Lifeguard Supervisor James Turnham said conditions were generally good in April but swimmers would have to be patient if beaches were closed.

"April is a great time of year on the north coast with ideal weather conditions," he said.

"It's not too hot, not too cold, and we begin to get more consistent warm water on our beaches due to the predominant southerly winds and swell.

"We want to see everyone coming to enjoy the beach, and hope that everyone chooses a patrolled beach, obeys beach signage and considers their own swimming ability before entering the water.

"There has been some beach closures (so far over the Easter weekend) and we encourage people to find those that are patrolled."
