Households can take part in the environmentally conscience effort from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, April 27.
Chemicals can be dropped off for free at the Port Macquarie Waste Management Facility at 70 Kingfisher Road.
Meegan Stephens from Coastal Warriors, a volunteer community group which organises cleanup days throughout the town said it was a good opportunity for residents.
"We have found motor fuel and vehicle oil containers at our monthly clean ups before, often found in the grassy areas of beach cleans ups," she said.
"Chemicals pose a huge threat to marine animals and also leave lasting effects on the ocean and its ecosystem that feed the marine life - such as seaweeds, reefs and sand quality.
"This is a great program rolling out from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and Midwaste to encourage the community to remove their waste responsibly.
"We encourage everybody to take advantage of this opportunity to reduce the amount of chemical waste that will end up in the ocean."
Some of the chemicals that can be deposited for free include solvents and household cleaners, floor care and ammonia-based cleaners, pesticides and herbicides.
As well as poisons, pool chemicals, motor fuels, acids and alkalies, garden and hobby chemicals in 20kg or 20L containers.
Paints, oils and batteries can be dropped at the facility for free throughout the year.
Residents are advised when handling and transporting chemicals to never mix chemicals, where possible keep them in their original containers, clearly labelled and well-sealed.
Containers holding liquids can be wrapped securely in newspaper, placed in sturdy plastic bags and then in plastic buckets or trays to prevent leakage during transport.
Household Chemical CleanOut project is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.
