This was after the government gave assurances it would not happen.
The majority of people in Port Macquarie obviously do not care about our beautiful koalas, we use these icons to attract visitors to our coast with our wonderful koala walk and our beloved Port Macuqarie Koala Hospital and all the workers associated with the hospital.
But when it comes to their protection, we do not care.
The laws must be fixed or else millions more face homelessness, prolonged suffering and death as their homes are cut down.
If this government continues to do nothing, koalas are on track to go extinct in NSW as early as 2050.
