The open day will welcome retired people from all walks of life for an afternoon of games, education courses and socialising from 10am to 2pm at Lochinvar Place, Port Macquarie.
Courses to keep the mental and physical health flowing include Australian history, astronomy, choral singing, art and textiles, international dancing, computer skills, languages, petanque and croquet.
Retired psychologist and U3A publicity officer Gail Mendoza said it was important to remain mentally and physically active in the community.
"Life long learning is something that resonates strongly with me because it's important for seniors to continue contributing to the community," she said.
"Keeping minds active can stave off nasties, help with physical and social health.
"It can be very isolating as people get older so we encourage them to come on down to the open day.
"Just because we are older doesn't mean we are disconnected from the world, we can be guest speakers and help from an educated stand point."
Other social gatherings on the day include mahjong, cryptic crosswords, bridge and exercise classes.
U3A is a non-profit organisation with classes run by volunteers.
