Captain Catherine Carroll found the back of the net twice along with Skye Vaughan as the new girls to the competition started in the best possible fashion.
They had never played a match together as a team before, but that was hard to believe.
"Across the board we all gelled well and it looked like we had played together previously," Carroll said.
"We have a relatively young side, but it does help having a few of the older, more experienced girls in the team as well."
Omni were toothless in attack, largely due to the absence of Annika and Sienna Toohey along with Maddi Drewitt.
"They weren't at full strength and they'll bring a bit more to the next time we play; they had Annika, Sienna and Maddi out, so that definitely helped us," Carroll said.
"It was beneficial, definitely.
"Overall everyone did their job and we didn't let them have too many shots on goal; they had a few chances, they just didn't capitalise."
The Venom captain was not getting too carried away with their opening round victory; she knows tougher challenges await.
"It is a strong competition down at Taree and having played down there, most of the girls don't understand what's coming," she said.
"Half haven't played before.
"There's plenty to work on."
In the men's match, Robert Fish scored a double, while Josh Dowrick and Nathan Cox also got on the score sheet as Thunder proved too good for Camden Haven in a 4-1 win.
