Schools from the Mid North Coast took to the field at Wood Street looking to book their place in the next stage in term three.
Most schools between Kempsey and Camden Haven competed on the day with St Joseph's Regional College from Port Macquarie leading the way.
Their number one team progressed to the under-16 regional final while MacKillop under-14s and Newman College (under-18s) also made it through.
St Josephs had two teams in the under-14 and under-16 divisions and one in the under-18s, while MacKillop, both Hastings Secondary College Port Macquarie and Westport Campus's also fielded teams.
They were joined by Melville High School from Kempsey, while St Paul's College competed in the Coffs Harbour gala day earlier in the year.
National Rugby League game development officer Pat Preston said the sport had seen some growth in the under-14, 16 and 18 age bracket in the last 12 months.
"We do this day because we're trying to promote league tag for junior league," he said.
"Even though the progression date isn't until term three we needed to show the girls there is a weekend sport they can play.
"We wanted it in term one to show if they love it they can show up to their local junior rugby league team and play league tag.
"There was some really good talent on show too so there is some great skill and some talented girls out there."
The winners will take on the other zone winners from Taree, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Ballina and Tweed Heads.
"We (had to) split it into two days so we've taken the Taree-Manning zone and created their own day so it would have been much bigger than last year," Preston said.
"Last year we were at capacity and Taree had their day washed out on Tuesday so they'll catch up on that one.
"The girls love it; it's been great."
