She will be joined by Andrew Clermont at Wauchope Arts Hall on Saturday, March 23 from 8pm.
"Kavisha is a wonderful artist with a glorious voice, warm stage presence, as well a fabulous songwriter and storyteller," said president Krissa Wilkinson.
"Andrew Clermont has shared his astounding musical skills in a number of groups that have played at the arts hall, including Blue Guru and Totally Gourdgeous. We are so fortunate that they are also sharing their skills in choir and song writing workshops."
Italian culture and passionate voice are just the tip of the iceberg of musical wonder presented in this rare gathering.
Kavisha Mazzella is an ARIA award winning singer songwriter who does not believe in world music. She says music unites us, and that creating imaginary titles, such as world music, is silly. She enjoys crossing musical boundaries and create community experiences in her shows.
Kavisha has empowered a generation of singers deep to the heart of the music by teaching singing in Italy and across Australia in a host of Festivals and Choirs. Her catch-cry is, 'Sing for no-one. Sing for everyone'.
Kavisha first came to national attention with her appearance in the Franco Di Chiera documentary "Joys of The Women" in 1993.
Drawing on her rich multicultural heritage she creates contemporary songs with haunting melody and lyrical depth.
While her early influences come from the singer songwriter tradition of the likes of Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, over time due to her passion for Italian regional folksong, she has absorbed influence from the east with its modal tones and ecstatic singing styles of Indian, Arabic, Southern Italian and Gypsy influenced song and links these with western folk music influences.
Other influences that have made an impression on Kavisha's music are her interest in meditation and mysticism through the teachings of Osho, Sufi, Tibetan Buddhist Masters and Advaita teachings.
Andrew Clermont is a chameleon musician from bluegrass to Indian, Scandinavian to old-time. He toured with various essence of Australia and US country music artists, and rubbed shoulders with the cools of jazz and classical.
A three-time bluegrass guitar champ and a director of the Golden Fiddle Awards in Australia, Andrew has been regularly bringing gobsmacking music to the region from Totally Gourdgeous to BluGuru and the Apostle String Band Tours.
Starting off as a basic three-time bluegrass guitar champion in the 80s, he's come along more than just a little since then on fiddle, mandolin, banjo, Appalachian dulcimer and didgeridoo.
Kavisha Mazzella and Andrew Clermont are at Wauchope Arts Hall, Saturday, March 23 at 8pm.
