Beach goers enjoyed the waves with only a few minor incidents despite some rainy weather over the March 16 and 17 weekend, according to Port Macquarie lifeguard supervisor James Turnham.
"Surf conditions have improved over last few days, there is small swell with light winds and nice water," he said.
"Beach goers have started to notice the whales are coming past again, April is usually a big month for it but some have already started to put on a show.
"There are fish about at the moment so people need to be cautious of sharks and think about coming back in from the surf during the early morning or at dusk.
"Avoid the water when you see fish activity."
Friday, March 15 saw two call outs with an unknown object spotted at Middle Rock in the morning and lifeguards attending a suspected spinal injury at Flynns Beach around 5pm that afternoon.
"We had a number of small incidents over the weekend, there was an object spotted off Middle Rock on Friday morning," said Mr Turnham.
"Lifeguards investigated and found it to be a floating buoy."
Lifeguards also offered assistance at a car crash on the corner of Stewart Street and William Street at 11.39am on March 17, no-one was injured.
