Jamie was making the most of the remaining sunny skies on Thursday morning, spending some time at Livvi's Place on Westport Park with son Isaac.

She was hesitant about what the family would be doing over the wet weekend, particularly the prospect of spending time indoors with a busy 17-month-old.

"We will probably be spending time at home and watching kids' movies or whatever we can do to entertain him," she said.

"There's always the option of going shopping too.

"We would normally head over to the Marbuk Avenue park near where we live but we decided to come here to grab as much sunshine as we could.

"Otherwise, the weekend will be a case of letting him run loose and making a mess," she said.

The predicted rain is associated with two low pressure troughs currently extending along the east coast while a second inland low extends through NSW and into Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The combination of these two lows is bringing moist onshore winds from a high pressure system sitting off the coastline.

Weatherzone meteorologist Tom Hough said Thursday's weather was likely to see the chance of some showers late afternoon.

"We are predicting storms but these are more likely further inland.

"The maximum temperature on Thursday will be around 27 degrees," he said.

"Friday will feature more showers and these will be dotted around the Port Macquarie-Hastings as scattered showers.

"The heaviest falls are likely to be inland around the Mt Seaview region.

"The rain is more likely in the afternoon and evening with the chance of storms through that same time period."

Friday's temperature range is 18 to 27 degrees with between 1-5mm of rain possible.

Mr Hough said the weather forecast looked pretty wet for the next few days.

Saturday has the potential to rain for much of the day and it could be heavy at times.

Mr Hough said that rain could be fairly consistent throughout the day with the potential for heavier falls later in the day.

"We could see between 20 to 40mm of rain," he added.

Sunday will be similar conditions with the potential of rain for most of the day. Falls will be between 10 to 20mm.

There could be some heavier falls in the early hours of Sunday but it should get a little lighter through the day," he said.

"We are expecting heavier falls overnight on Sunday. The temperature range is 17-26 degrees."

Winds will be fairly light and will potentially peak at 20 to 25km/h on Thursday and Friday afternoon.

The weekend will see lighter winds but picking up slightly in the evening.

Thursday and Friday's wave heights are between 1-2 metres before increasing to 2 to 2.5 metres on the weekend.
