Witty, edge-of-chair engaging and delightfully twisted are all words describing Port Macquarie's world premiere of Theatrical Antics.

The theatre production is presented by Endeavour Club House Mental Health in conjunction with Yogi Productions at The Basement in Panthers Port Macquarie.
Best described as a romantic comedy Antics explores the complex web of relationships and history of an aging French theatre in Sydney called The Arcadian, before it's untimely demise on opening night.
The script written by E.Jay Corr leaves audiences impatiently waiting for the next scene as Arcadian's actors and actresses race towards the life-or-death performance, an increasingly complex web of cast romance and the theatre's doom.
Theatre debutante David Cooper shines as 'Horatio' the main villain and dictator-like director for Arcadian. Cooper casts a constant presence on stage and has surprisingly excellent vocal sections throughout.
Leading ladies Lauren Darcy as 'Josephine' and Ailie Forster playing 'Justine' make a superb singing trio with Justin Hurst's 'Allister'.
As the plot twists and turns several times towards the un-guessable finale all three members share the stage for a number of operatic numbers.
Laurie and Robin Van Loggerenberg are staples of the show in their roles of comic relief maintenance man 'Alfred' and voice of reason actress 'Leonie', dropping several clues to a wider plot throughout.
The musical direction by composer Andrew Lavers is seamless for the show, the audience is wrapped up in the atmosphere created by it and the vibrant costumes on display.
The introduction of a musical pre-show entertainment by Wauchope's Chuck Murray is a crowd pleaser and a good warm up for the play.
Tickets are $25 and $10 for concession, the next available performances are 8pm on Friday, April 26 and 2pm on Sunday, April 28.
