Playing for Seaside Conveyancing, Joel McManus took on Need-A-Clean’s Billy Hargy. And the contest showed how quickly these two players are improving.
The left handed Joel took a tightly contested first game 9-7, but Billy was undeterred and stuck to his game plan, and it brought the reward of comfortably winning the next 2 games.
In fact Billy’s play got him to match point in the fourth, but then it was Joel’s turn to fight back, squeezing that game 10-9 then going on the get victory in the fifth game 9-5.
What impressed spectators was the boys’ court movement, the extra power in the shotmaking, their intent to get the ball into the back of the court and then trying drop shots and boasts.
Joel’s team Seaside Conveyancing lead Need-A-Clean 3 matches 9 games to 3 games (1 match to play).
In other action on the night Port Macquarie Medical Centre Pharmacy defeated Port Macquarie Tree Services 3 matches 9 games to 1 match 4 games.
