The track is green for go as Port Macquarie gets ready for it's Country Championship qualifying race on February 17, said Port Macquarie Race Club chief executive Michael Bowman.
"The track is looking really good, we had 19ml of rain the other night which we have been desperate for," he said.
"We've got a good irrigation system but they don't always get the whole track and of course the rain has nice even cover."
February 17's race day in town is one of seven qualifying races held at a club representing one racing region in NSW, with each race worth $150,000 in prize money.
"We have had ten weeks of very hot dry conditions with strong wings, which doesn't help your irrigation and drys the track out," said Mr Bowman.
"By Sunday it will be back to a good racing surface - ideal with a little bit of give in the track and horses race well on it."
The first two finishers in each regional race will qualify for Newhaven Park Country Championships final worth $500,000, at Royal Randwick in Sydney on April 6.
The club is hosting live music, a free jumping castle and face painting for the event, to pull in the crowds.
"Racing is a great day out," said Mr Bowman.
"It's a good weather forecast, with a fine day and minimal chance of rain from what I've seen."
