When it comes to loving a particular style of decor, it's not unusual for people to gravitate towards a number of eras or styles - you might love the clean lines dominated by Scandinavian interiors, but hold a long held desire for a luxe leather sofa so deep you could disappear for days.

Creative director of Schots, Don Savige has the following advice for mixing styles, using a variety of pieces available at the home emporium as examples.

NORDIC STYLE: Inspired by classic mid-century design and influenced by Danish culture and style, the sofa is hand crafted from premium quality leather.

The Nordic look

The room is inspired by the classic mid-century design, influenced Danish culture and style. Simple and stylish, the Nordic Seater sofa is handcrafted from premium quality top grain cow leather and has turned wooden legs.

This finely crafted sofa and Panton occasional chair are reminiscent of a bygone era, both upholstered in premium sienna brown.

Over time, the leathers will continue to soften and develop an aged look. In keeping with the Nordic theme, the side console and coffee table are made from exotic reclaimed hardwood timbers.

To add depth to the room, the trick is to add texture - we suggest a handwoven tufted wool floor rug.

The Boston sofa and Lodge armchair both feature genuine top grain aged vintage leather, which has been hand twisted to give it the authentic worn-in look. The hand woven tufted wool floor rug and woven wall hanging highlight the timeless motif of the room, as does the reclaimed timber artifacts.

The polished concrete coffee table features heavy steel wheels, giving an ex-industrial element that speaks to the industrial décor trend that were seeing people gravitate towards.
