The introductory days were attended by 65 keen paddlers on the Hastings River during February 2 and 9.
Club secretary Andrew Blundell said the conditions were picture perfect as guests aged from 12 up, took to the water.
"The paddlers got some basic technique on land before they were kitted out with a paddle and buddied off with an experienced member and had fun out on the water," he said.
"From race starts to strength work, speed and endurance – the sessions culminated in some friendly rivalry between each of the three boats out on the water with a final race."
Mr Blundell said the club holds come-and-try sessions twice each year, with relaxed training sessions on Tuesday’s at 6.30am and Sundays from 9am.
"It is about being competitive, members of our club have represented NSW and Australia but it is also about fitness, fun and being part of a welcoming and friendly group," he said.
"You don’t have to be fit, you don’t have to be athletic, dragon boaters pride themselves on developing fitness as they paddle."
Mr Blundell said the sport is great cross training for football players, as it uses different muscles.
