TAFE NSW and Australia Post have partnered for the online employee training program to help up skill workers with formal qualifications, under the guidance of Port Macquarie trainers.
Workers will be trained in a Business Certificate III or Certificate III in Retail, by TAFE NSW business services and retail teams based in Port Macquarie.
Retail and business teacher Caroline Hudson said the up skilling promotes staff into roles with more responsibility.
"It's customised to meet the needs of Australia Post... featuring online learning for mostly students in Western Australia and Queensland," she said.
"I think there's a vast age group with wonderful years of experience but no piece of paper, this program gives them national recognition.
"It's a benchmark against industry standards.
"Bench marking is important, up skilling people gives confidence and addresses gaps, highlights people doing amazing things."
Initially 50 post office network workers will be accepted, before adding one hundred more nationally every three months, said Ms Hudson.
Teachers can communicate with learners via an online training platform, video conference, teleconference and a 24/7 shared mailbox.
Australia Post’s general manager post office network David McNamara said Australia Post was pleased to be exploring the online training model.
“Australia Post is always looking for opportunities to provide employees with career growth paths and meaningful professional development,” he said.
"We look forward to following our team members through this learning journey."
TAFE NSW head of skillspoint, technology and business services, Dr. Geethani Nair said professional development of staff is crucial to the effectiveness of any business.
“TAFE NSW is equipping the workforce of the future by offering customised training to Australia Post," she said.
“To deliver training across the country we provide a digital learning platform that is easily accessible anytime and anywhere for all types of workers.
"Most importantly, provide a fantastic interactive user experience that makes learning simple.”
