The event is on Saturday, February 9.

Fords, Chev’s, Plymouths and Buicks are the order of the day, as Port Macquarie welcomes a range of hot rods for the annual coastal cruise.

Around 120 cars are expected to take up residence in the Town Green carpark for a Show & Shine gathering from 4.30pm.

Coasters Hot Rod Club founding member Bill Reid said hundreds of hours and many thousands of dollars had gone into cars of all types and shapes. 

"We are expecting up around about 200 cars, may be around 2000 visitors," he said.

"They have a rod run from the Edgewater Caravan Park and it goes from Friday to Sunday afternoon, you get blokes from Sydney, Queensland, Newcastle, Tamworth - there was one bloke last year that came from South Australia, that was the longest one.

"It certainly helps with tourism in Port, a lot of them will spent a week here before and a week after, brings a fair bit of money into town.

"All the restaurants fill up, all the kids love it as well."

The event is hosted by CHRC, based at Edgewater Caravan Park over three days with rods making runs down to Laurieton and around town, donations will be given to Port Macquarie State Emergency Services.

Secretary Brad Hammon said the Club had been running the event for charity for 17 years.

"Its good to get all like-minded people together on the hot rod scene, and also we do it too because its a charity thing - we don’t make anything out of it, it all goes to the SES and oncology," he said.

"(The hot rod interest) its probably been around for years and years since being a teenager, you're just more that way inclined, its always been a life long dream."
