As part of the Port Macquarie Library’s push to get out into the community, they set up shop in the Ross Family Studio with kids and adults alike able to try their hand at smashing virtual cubes, riding rollercoasters and exploring a jungle.
Erica Hall was one of the young people who had a go at the new equipment and said it was great.
“It was really real when you had the headset on,” Erica said.
“At one point it was a bit scary but that was just because it felt so real.”
The out will be repeated on January 29 and library manager Jim Maguire said it was a chance for people to get a taster of some of the equipment that is housed at the library.
“We are heading to The Glasshouse so that people who might not always come to the library will get the chance to see some of the virtual reality equipment we have,” Mr Maguire said.
“For the last few years we have had virtual reality technology on offer at the library but with no dedicated space we could only bring it out for special events.
“Now with the dedicated portal space people can reserve the room any time the library is open for up to 1.5 hours at a time for free.”
