Here is your chance to learn just that as well as the story behind your items.
A collectibles showcase on the Town Green is among the features of Port Macquarie’s Australia Day program.
Experts Tom Thompson and Alex Renwick will appraise the items in exchange for a gold coin donation to Tacking Point Lions Club.
Mr Thompson said the process was one of discovery.
“We will look at everything that comes in,” he said.
Mr Thompson encouraged people to secure their place to have their collectibles appraised, while others can look on.
“There will be something always being talked about,” he said.

The collectibles showcase will be staged at Town Green east between 11am and midday, and 1pm and 3pm on Australia Day.
Jewellery, coins, sporting memorabilia and publications are examples of collectibles.
Items tucked away in books or photograph albums can prove valuable, for example.
“Often little things on paper have high financial value because they were the very things thrown away or never collected by institutions,” Mr Thompson said.
Meanwhile, the Mid North Coast Maritime Museum will have six boats taking part in the Australia Day sail past on the Hastings River.
The museum’s boats in the flotilla include two wooden-hulled launches formerly used on Sydney Harbour.
Mid North Coast Maritime Museum president Ted Kasehagen said the sail past would be spectacular with many other craft taking part too.
The museum will have a stall on Australia Day at the Town Green featuring maritime-related items for sale.
The money raised will go back into the museum.
A wooden boat, The Don, will also be on display at the stall.
