Graeme Brittain from Weatherzone said no reprieve is in sight.
“This week people in Port Macquarie can expect temperatures consistently higher than average during the day and higher than average over night as well,” Mr Brittain said.
“Today (Monday) will be 29 degrees but from tomorrow temperatures will stay in the low 30s for the remainder of the week.
“Overnight temperatures are expected to stay in the low 20s which is around 4 degrees higher than average.”
The average rainfall for January in Port Macquarie is 160mm and so far we have received considerably less than that.
The driest January on record in 2009 when just 19.4mm was recorded for the entire month, while the wettest January on record was in 2015 when 418.8mm was recorded.
Mr Brittain said while Port Macquarie is not going to get to into the 40 degree temperatures, high humidity levels will certainly make things very uncomfortable nonetheless.
“We need to talk about humidity in Port Macquarie because it is going to get a lot worse this week,” he said.
“Along with the higher than average temperatures for this time of year it will feel a lot worse due to inland wind which will push humidity right up.”
