A Port Macquarie resident for more than 30 years, Neil decided to move to the area after becoming fed up living in the city.
“Before coming to Port Macquarie I had lived in Melbourne and Sydney but I really wanted to get away from all of that,” Neil said.
“One weekend I decided to do a bit of a roadtrip and on my way to Brisbane I decided to stop in Port Macquarie to visit a friend.
“From there I found work here and I have been here pretty much ever since. I am a jack of all trades doing whatever I had to when the situation called for it.
“Port Macquarie has a great vibe to it, there is a real hum to the place.
“I have held many different jobs over the years and most of the time they involved animals. love horses”
These days in his spare time Neil likes to read books and tend to his garden – when he is not doing art that is.
“I tend to take it a bit slower these days but I do love to read. Biographies are my favourite but I also enjoy non fiction books that tell a good story.
"I also enjoy gardening. I love watching nature and pulling out the weeds.
“By far the thing that keeps me the most busy is my art. I love the creative freedom and the ability for something to come out of nothing.
“My focus is around inking wood. I love working with the wood grain to see what I can make up.”
