Either way, news that Port Macquarie would soon have a multi-entertainment and commercial hub on the Warlters and Park streets intersection has created plenty of interest.
The multi-million dollar proposal includes nine cinemas, gymnasium, funfair with indoor bowling alley, food and drink premises - with drive-through facilities and retail tenants.
There is a basement car park, with a car wash, with 153 car spaces and 12 motor bike spaces.
Planet Warriewood/United Cinemas, a chain of cinemas owned and operated by the Mustaca family, is behind the proposal.
While the developmnent was, broadly, accepted, a number of comments posted to the Port Macquarie News Facebook page, believed the complex would harm existing businesses.
Port Macquarie currently boasts Majestic Cinema and Wave Bowl.
One post read: We need something different so we don't destroy the already struggling businesses and provide something fresh and new.
Another post suggested moving the "concrete surprise" out in the shopping precinct planned and started at Sovereign Hills.
Some comments urged the development to include a gold class cinema - which includes service to your chair.
Many posts supported the concept with one describing it as awesome while another said it would bring further employment to the city.
The issue of traffic congestion was also raised along with questions over ticket pricing also being raised.
Another suggested the development was a case of "cinema overkill". "What a waste," the writer suggested.
United Cinemas founder Roy Mustaca said they believed the development was very much needed.
“We believe that we can be of a service,” he said.
“We certainly choose where we can service well and we think Port Macquarie is one of the nicest places.”
The development application is on exhibition at Port Macquarie-Hastings Council until February 15.
