It was hoped the competition would run with clubs from Group 3 as well as Group 2 and take place as early as the upcoming season.
The possibility of that happening this year appears to be growing less and less likely as the weeks progress.
“It’s all up in the air at the moment,” Connor said.
“The nines are growing and that competition seems to be working, but the 13-a-side might take a little longer.”
Connor said a North Coast Bulldogs representative nine-a-side team had been named for the upcoming Country Championships in March/April.
“The girls can go into the Country Championships alongside the boys now,” he said.
North Coast will clash with the Greater Northern Tigers and a combined Hunter/Newcastle side.
The squad is: Nala Ballangarry (Group Two), Karley Barnett (Group Three), Lisa Bullivant (G3), Rachel Devine (G2), Alaya Donovan (G2), Jade Egar (G2), Chelsea Green (G3), Sarah Grofos (G3), Jayaka Hart (G2), Makayla Hoskins (G2), Jonty Hemmingway (G3), Lauren Linton (G2), Shellie Long (G2), Tina McRae (G2), Sarah O’Connor (G3), Nicole Pender (G3), Mishika Randall (G2), Zoie Shrewies (G2), Greta Smith (G2), Larissa Ward (G3), Jasmine Wilbow (G3), Karri Williams (G2), Courtney Whitby (G3), Hannah Yates (G3).
