The Port Macquarie Observatory will throw open its doors each Friday from 10.30am to noon during the January school holidays.
The event is designed specifically for children, who will learn about gravity, the stars, the sun and other astrological delights.
The current building was constructed through the efforts of Albert York in the early 1960s. The Rotary Clubs of the region were involved in some aspects of the construction phase.
At one point the site was used as a go kart track.
