The history of Hastings pubs has been unveiled by the Australian National University (ANU).
Pubs are a key part of Australia’s cultural identity, and act as a meeting place in our local communities. The Hastings is no exception.
The ANU Archives project has brought the history of Hastings pubs online for the community to enjoy.
The new online exhibition showcases the history of Tooth and Company, a significant New South Wales brewer, and the many hotels it owned and supplied throughout the state.
They include in Port Macquarie the Innes Tavern (ex Tourist, ex Commercial Hotel); Macquarie Hotel (ex Club Hotel); Port Macquarie Hotel; Royal Hotel and Settlers Inn.
At Telegraph Point the Riverview Hotel and Wauchope, the Hastings Hotel and Star Hotel.
The brewer the Beechwood Hotel and the Travellers Rest in Long Flat.
This exhibit is available online with a special interactive map, providing you with access to valuable historical information, as well as incredible photographs.
The ANU archives have access to extra images and records on most of the hotels.
