The competition, run by the Mid North Coast Local Health District, offered more than $45,000 in prizes in a range of categories including open, mobile, primary and high schools.
The winners were announced at the opening night of the competition exhibition at Sails Resort in Port Macquarie on November 23.
The year 5 student at St Columba Anglican School said he was excited to have his photograph selected among the winners.
“The competition was all about showing a healthy life and so I took a photo of my mum on our trampoline,” Liam said.
“I really wanted to take a photo on the trampoline as we have a big backyard and the whole family loves spending time together on the trampoline jumping.
“We always have lots of fun and I wanted to share that.
“It was amazing to be able to win and I am really happy that I did because I hoped that I would.”
For coming second Liam was awarded a new camera and $500 as well as $2000 for his school to support their healthy school canteen program.
“It was kinda cool that I was able to win some money for the school so that we can have a healthy canteen,” he said.
Competition organiser and Your Health Link Program Manager Carolyn Guichard said the standard of the photos submitted was very high and the theme of Healthy Life, Healthy You was interpreted in some really unique and creative ways in the entries.
“When selecting the winning photos, our judges were looking for unique images that represent a healthy and active lifestyle,” Ms Guichard said.
