A fantastic program, volunteers come together each month to help those with a disability enjoy the waves and go for a surf.
Participant Glen Ball said he had a great time in the water.
“I love coming to the surfing, it is so much fun and everyone is nice,” Glen said.
“Today the water was really good and the surf was great.”
Despite the clouds, the third meeting of the season was a great success said secretary Jenny Knox.
“Today we had an absolutely wonderful event at Flynns Beach with 14 participants able to have a surf,” Ms Knox said.
“As a volunteer it is just great to see the huge smiles on the faces of the participants as they catch a wave.”
She said that despite the fun they are always looking for more people to help.
“We are on the hunt for some more volunteers to come and help us ensure those who are surfing have a great time,” she said.
“You do not have to have any experience just a big smile and a willingness to get into the water and have fun.
“If you would like to help please just come along to the next surfing day and we will help you with everything.”
Hastings Disabled Surfing takes place once a month at Flynns Beach in Port Macquarie.
The next meeting will be February 9, followed by March 9 and April 6.
