The all-girls team will compete in a group of 14 in their division.

Teams in this category are from Queensland, ACT, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. 

The team left the Camden Haven and Port Macquarie on the weekend.

It is expected they will attend the finals of the Australian Volleyball League Finals as part of the trip.

That competition is considered the top league in Australian Open Volleyball, and forms part of the opening to the Schools Cup, said coach Todd Dalton.

"The team has been working diligently for over two years to hone their skills and compete at a high level," Dalton said.

"As a team they have travelled to Newcastle and Sydney numerous times to play in the NSW State Cups. 

"They have trained three days a week during school and held afternoon training sessions to prepare for this event. 

"As such a number of the girls have been selected into representative teams over the years at an open age level, whilst still in year 9 and 10."

The coach said he was proud of the team and the efforts of all team members.

"I am really proud how well the team has worked over the years in preparation for this opportunity. 

"They have proven time and time again, they are a force to be reckoned with at any competition. 

"The girls have had to fundraise to support the high cost of the trip - around $1300 each, whilst parents have been exceptional in their support for all activities across the years."

Dalton said the team would not be in this position if not for the support of the parents and school leadership team for which the team are "very appreciative".

It is also the first time the school has been able to represent at this event in the 18 years of Camden Haven High School.

The high school are the first school from the North Coast to represent in about 15 years. 

"So a very big honour for the team, and hopefully the start of big things to come in the local area for volleyball," the coach added.

The competition consists of up to three games per day to qualify for the finals with games being best of five sets, first to 25 with a lead of at least two points. 

This will be where regular competition will benefit the team in the later stages of the week and hopefully give them the edge over their competition. 

Making it through to the finals will be challenging, however the first obstacle will be Mercedes High School and getting a win on the board. 

"Hopefully the nerves will settle early and the team will be able to take charge of the games from the outset," Dalton said. 

"Whatever the outcome the week long tournament will be an amazing experience for all, and be a stepping stone to bigger and better things in the future for the Camden Haven High School Dolphins Volleyball Program."

To further boost the sport across the Mid-North and North Coasts, NSW Volleyball and coaches from across the area are forming a Northern NSW Volleyball Regional Hub.

Planning includes improving the second most participated sport in the world in the area, Dalton said.
