Moorehead’s selection in the Mid North Coast team follows a successful State Cup campaign earlier this year. 

The skillful player helped lead her Port Macquarie team to the grand final of the state competition before they were narrowly defeated by South Sydney.

Following the State Cup, Moorehead and several other members of her team were also selected in the Country team and this experience has them primed to push for more success at this weekend’s National Championships.

The Championships are being conducted over three days with pool games held on Friday through to Saturday, with Sunday being finals day.

Moorehead extended her gratitude to coach Steve Van Gemert who brings an exceptional level of skill and experience to the team as a current Australian player.

“You cannot get a more experienced oz tag coach, the opportunity to absorb as much as I can from Steve has been wonderful,” Moorehead said. 

Despite a few injury concerns, Moorehead feels confident the team has done all they can to prepare for a solid nationals campaign.

It has been a busy few weeks for Moorehead who represented Indigenous Australia at the recent OzTag World Cup, where she received her team’s most valuable player award from tournament organisers.

Moorehead was also the captain of the premiership winning Lower Macleay Magpies rugby league team in the recent Hastings/Group 3 women’s tackle 9s competition.
