The school sent two teams to Lismore last week for the Christian Schools Sport Association (CSSA) North Coast Zone 5-a-side soccer gala day and it was the 7/8 team who impressed the most.
Coach Mick Baldwin said both teams won five matches from five starts with the 7/8 team replicating their success from last year.
“They were the defending champions and didn’t concede a goal,” he said.
“They would have scored on average about three goals per match and the 5/6 team scored about 20 goals and only conceded a few.”
As has been the case throughout the year, all students represented Heritage in a manner to be extremely proud of both on and off the field.
Baldwin said all the girls worked amazingly as a team and kept fighting until the very end.
The primary and secondary boys played really well and finished about mid-field in their divisions.
However, whether the students won or lost, they all played well in a relatively new sport and look forward to attending in 2019.
Each division has a ‘Best and Fairest’ recipient and Jonnie-Bree Gore took out this award for the primary open girls.
All the girls also received a Liverpool jersey as a special gift from the sponsors.
A special thank you to Nikki, Mick and the staff at Summerland Christian College in Goonellabah, who provided the overnight accommodation.
“Additionally, a trip like this would not be possible without the dedication and efforts of teachers from Heritage.
“Thank you to Ms Zhu, Mrs McKay and Mr Mason.”
And finally, a massive thank you to Brook Gittoes for reffing for us the entire day.
