They cruised to an 177-run win over Orara High School on Tuesday at Coffs Harbour which sets up a clash with MacLean High School at Laurieton Oval, potentially on Friday.

Captain Connor Cook (80) again led the way with the bat, while younger brother Bryce (23), Liam Adelt (58) and Rhyan Hudson (43) also chipped in.

Camden Haven compiled an imposing 267 before they rattled through the Orara lineup for just 90 with wickets evenly shared amongst the bowlers.

Coach Shane Williams said the team felt they were an even stronger lineup than the one which became North Coast champions 12 months ago.

“We lost three players at the start of the year, but Connor has stepped up and led the team well,” he said.

“The challenge if we get through the next game is to strengthen our weakest link because there will be a time when some of them will have to spend time in the middle.”

Williams said a handful of players in the team didn’t play regular cricket and they would need to utilise them more as the competition progressed.

“Connor’s going to get a peach one day and then some of the others will need to bat for a longer time,” he said.

“You’re only as strong as your weakest link.”
