Prince will run around for Murwillumbah men’s 30s, while Soward and Fien (Wollongong men’s 30s), Caine (Cronulla men’s 40s) and Lyons (Manly men’s 55s) will see how their modern-day skills shape up at the 2018 NSW State Cup.
NSW Touch Football Association general manager Dean Russell said it was always a privilege to watch draw cards in action.
“Cliffy has just played against Queensland in the State of Origin and you can see he’s still got the ball skills,” he said.
Russell was expecting the men’s 30s division – which could see Soward and Fien face off with Prince later in the competition – as one of those to keep an eye on.
“It looks like a really intense competition and the men’s masters will be pretty good too,” he said.
Playing numbers have stayed consistent despite the NSW OzTag national titles being played at Coffs Harbour this weekend.
“We haven’t had a great deal of teams affected; we have 236 which is about the same as last year,” Russell said.
Port Macquarie’s mixed opens team was one to watch following their Country Championship success earlier in the year.
“They have been there and thereabouts over the years,” Russell said.
“They played the Country Championships with depleted numbers and I saw them in the final and they were pretty impressive.”
Russell anticipated they would “have to be a chance of finals” and Eastern Suburbs and Murwillumbah would provide their main threats.
Port Macquarie will have a link to the men’s and women’s premier divisions with Paddy Coelho and Laura Coleman set to line up for Western Suburbs.
