This follows Sunday's hot conditions which saw the maximum climb to 35 degrees.
That is eight degrees above the December average.
Worse though, says meteorologist with weatherzone Craig McIntosh, Sunday actually saw two peaks in maximum temperature.
"Port Macquarie Airport recorded 35 degrees at 12.30pm on Sunday," he said.
"Then there was a dip in that maximum in the early afternoon before the maximum jumped again at around 4.30pm into the low 30s.
"The minimum overnight temperature was just above the average at 17.5 degrees," he said.
Mr McIntosh said this week's weather should be benign with Monday's maximum reaching 27 degrees with a mostly sunny day.
"There is the possibility of a late shower overnight and into Tuesday morning.
"This is due to some onshore winds.
"Tuesday's maximum temperature is likely to be around 28 degrees and there is likely to be some gusty winds later in the day.

"You will likely see south to south west winds through Tuesday and this will bring cooler temperatures on Wednesday to about the mid 20s."
The meteorologist says we could expect some possible showers on Thursday morning but these should clear through the day.
There is the chance of a light shower on Friday too.
Winds on Friday will be south, south west tending north east by the weekend. This will see a gradual increase in temperatures.
Saturday is likely to be around 27 degrees with Sunday one degree warmer again.
We can expect afternoon gusty sea breezes on the weekend.
A southerly swell will bring reasonably good wave conditions, particularly on Tuesday morning.
Port Macquarie Lifeguard supervisor James Turnham says Town Beach and Flynns Beach would be the two best options for waves.
"By the weekend it’s looking like Lighthouse Beach will be most protected due the the wind and swell turning north east," he said.
Meanwhile various shark sightings closed North Haven Beach for a couple of hours over the weekend.
"Town Beach had a number of rescue assists and some ordinance control measures took place in which police were called to remove an intoxicated person.
"We were lucky to have a nice coastal breeze which made the beaches a nice place to cool down on Sunday," he said.
The Bureau of Meteorology cancelled Monday's strong wind warning for the Macquarie Coast.
