Mr Clarke and the Green Caffeen team have been travelling up the coast of Australia to pitch their initiative to cafes with several in Port Macquarie already on board, including the Ruins Way and Beantree Cafe.
"It's going well in Port Macquarie. We have several more cafes interested so we will be back to sign them up shortly,” he said.
“We are up to about 15 cafes in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region and are about to put more of a call out leading into Christmas."
With the scheme, customers are able to visit participating cafes and use a swap-and-go system, allowing them to drink from a reusable cup that can be returned to the cafe and swapped for a fresh cup on their next visit.
It began in Kiama, but the green cups are now making appearances all over.
"Everyone drinks coffee and wherever we go, whether it's Port Macquarie or wherever, we want to lead people in the right direction and are happy to try and make a difference,” Mr Clarke said.
Beantree Cafe owner, Michaela Henshaw, said she loved the idea.
"People want to be good to the environment but often they forget to bring the cup in and you get stuck," she said.
"This idea is great and I hope it is something the community will get on board with because I think it's fantastic."
She said several regular customers are using the initiative and encouraged more to get on board.
