His global tour began on November 10, 2014 and since then he has cycled through 41 countries bringing messages of peace, good will and environmental conservation.
“I am going around the world from India to India talking, motivating and educating people about the impacts of global warming and climate change and calling for peace,” Mr Sharma said.
“We need more love and peace in our world not hate and war and I am on a tour to talk about that.
“Economic growth is the tag that the world gives, when people over exploit the natural resources. This over exploitation of resources leads to natural calamities and global warming.
“People affected by these natural calamities suffer even without food and water. If there is any kind of a problem that is occurring within the society, each of us is responsible.”
Mr Sharma said as a global citizen he saw it as his duty to go out and educate people on how severely our planet is suffering.
“As a global citizen my ride is a self initiative, symbolic bike ride and everyday as I explore the world I meet fantastic people who are kind and caring,” he said.
“I love our environment and travel and this is a fantastic way for me to see the world. Travelling by bike means I am going very slowly but I am meeting lots of people along the way and I am enjoying every moment.
“A bike is also very environmentally friendly and that is something that is important to me.”
Mr Sharma has spent more than 60 day in Australia and will be leaving for New Zealand in the coming days.
From there he will head to Africa and Asia before returning home in 2020.
Mr Sharma met with members of Marine Rescue Port Macquarie on Sunday, November 18, as he came through town.
Marine Rescue Port Macquarie unit commander Greg Davies said the unit were delighted to talk to Mr Sharma.
“He is going around the world to talk about saving the planet and keeping our environment clean and we at Marine Rescue care about our environment so were happy to meet with Abhishek,” Mr Davies said.
“It was by chance that we heard he was in town but we were able to talk to him about what we do at the boat shed and get him on our PM 30 vessel.
“A number of our members came along to have a chat and wish him well on his journey.”
