The video shows how the airport terminal building will look when the almost $10 million upgrade is finished.
Dennis and Barb Ham, who visited the airport on November 19 for the second time, plan to move to the Hastings.
Mr Ham said the video fly-through looked impressive.
He said the airport was the gateway to Port Macquarie and it would attract people to the area.
There are changes in place at the airport while the upgrade continues.
Mr Ham said he wouldn’t describe the interim arrangement at the airport as terribly aesthetically appealing but passengers had to accept a little bit of discomfort as it would lead to the terminal building upgrade.
The almost $10 million project will double the size of the airport terminal building.
The council’s video fly-through below shows what the upgraded airport terminal building will look like.
Passengers can look forward to an expanded check-in area, expanded departures and arrivals areas, expanded security screening areas and expanded and improved baggage claim area with a baggage claim carousel.
The new-look terminal building will have air conditioning throughout and visitors will be able to connect their devices to Wi-Fi.
Mrs Ham said the video fly-through looked great.
Glenn Porter from Wingham agreed the video fly-though looked good, while he was pleased with the interim arrangements.
“It [the airport terminal upgrade] will take it into the 21st century but the parking is always an issue,” he said.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council plans to have the video fly-through on display at the airport.
The $9.875 million airport terminal building upgrade is funded through a $5 million state government contribution, $1.25 million from the federal government and up to $3.625 million from the council.
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack, Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker, mayor Peta Pinson and council representatives inspected progress on the project on November 19.
Mr McCormack said the airport terminal upgrade project was a whole of government approach with the three levels of government working together to double the size of the airport terminal building.
He said the airport was a gateway and they wanted more people to visit the beautiful area of Port Macquarie and the Hastings.
The upgrade will cater for increased passenger numbers in the future, improve the facilities and provide a better airport experience.
Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker said the upgrade project would bring the airport terminal building to an absolutely first class standard.
Mayor Peta Pinson said the council sought support for the project through the state and federal partnership and that had been heard.
NSW Business Chamber regional manager Kellon Beard said the Mid North Coast Business Chamber was encouraged to see all levels of government working together to progress the upgrade of the Port Macquarie Airport.
