Staging business events is a great way to showcase our region’s conferencing facilities and tourism offerings while encouraging overnight visitation.
The extra $500,000 is available to conference planners, towns and regions that want to create their own new conferences or attract and retain existing business events.
I encourage conference planners to apply now for this terrific funding opportunity. For more information go to meetinnsw.com.au/business-event-development-fund or contact my office on 6584 0977.
Find a JP online
An online Justice of the Peace register will be upgraded to make it easier for people to find a JP when they need one. There are over 95,000 JPs in NSW – yet tracking one down in urgent situations can be challenging. The revamped register will enable JPs to include the dates and times they’re available, in addition to their contact details.
For JPs, it will mean fewer unwanted disruptions, while people who need a document witnessed or certified quickly can find an available JP more easily.
The improved register will also assist culturally and linguistically diverse communities, by enabling people to search for a local JP who speaks a particular language.
The current system only allows users to search for a JP by name, registration number or postcode. The new-look register will begin operating in early 2019.
JPs act as independent and objective witnesses to documents people need for a variety of purposes. Their main functions are to witness affidavits and statutory declarations, and they may also certify copies of original documents.
JPs provide their services on a voluntary basis.
