After confident positioning by Andrew Gibbons, Angel of Heaven made the step from maiden company to class two with an outstanding victory by just under two lengths in the sixth event and kept her winning record unblemished.
It was a similar story for the Dundeel colt, Total Power, who followed up a debut win at Tamworth with a comprehensive victory in the last race over Traumatised and Mayfair Lady.
The riding double continues the wonderful success being enjoyed by Andrew Gibbons who is the first jockey to break 50 winners for the season and leads the NSW Premiership over Greg Ryan, James McDonald and Tye Angland.
With Charlie’s Law saluting earlier on the program in the absence of fancied stablemate, Magnolia Power, who was scratched at the barrier, the training treble placed the Kris Lees stable second behind Chris Waller in the NSW Premiership with 59 wins.
Other training honours went to popular Wyong mentor, Kristen Buchanan, with a double following success to Hubble and Red Cupcake in the first half of the program.
Serg Lisnyy used great initiative in carving across from an outside barrier on Hubble to lead and run his rivals ragged in scoring by just under three lengths while Red Cupcake debuted with victory in the fourth.
Considering the Snippetson mare only had one trial in preparation for the assignment due to injury, the win by Red Cupcake was full of merit as she was able to hold on from Casino Mondial and Exdream.
The feature Hastings Sprint resulted in success for Damien Lane as Choice Laga was able to resume from a break of six months in holding the finishing burst of race favourite, Penfold.
It was an impressive return for the Al Samer gelding at his first run on the circuit and took prizemoney earnings to over $220,000 with a record of seven wins and fifteen minor placings from 54 appearances.
The Tas Morton trained gelding, O’Driscoll continued his good record at the track with a comprehensive win aided by a perfect ride by Peter Graham, who made a move down the side of the track to race away over the concluding stages.
Jenny Graham was responsible for a good training feat with the successful resumption from a spell by Let’s Rebelle in the Benchmark 58 Handicap.
Following a great ride by her father in an earlier event, Cejay Graham performed a faultless ride to position the Rebel Raider mare just off the pace before storming home for an impressive victory.
Racing was conducted under fine skies on a good surface with the track featuring a good covering of grass which gave all runners an even chance.
The successful staging of the card was greatly influenced by the support of Schweppes together with associated sponsors, The Sandbox, Charlie’s Takeaway and Catering, Ruins on Haywood, Hungry Workers, Hill St Store & Deli, Blairs Newsagency and Black Box Pizza.
Racing continues at the track on November 27 with Port Macquarie Panthers Race Day and a large crowd of club members is anticipated to join the trackside festivities.
