Emergency service organisations from Gosford to the Queensland border will be taking part in a demonstration day in Port Macquarie on Saturday, November 24 at Westport Park, to show what happens when everything turns bad.
Bill Roffey, SES local commander Coffs Coast Mid North Coast Command - Northern Zone said the day is shaping up to be a very interesting day.
“Essentially what the day is all about is lots of different agencies coming together to show what they do best,” Mr Roffey said.
“From CareFlight, NSW RFS, Police and Ambulance, to VRA (Volunteer Rescue Association), SES and RFS there will be a wide display of skills on show to the general public.
“The day will be at Westport Park in Port Macquarie and will go from Police getting a call right through to all the emergency services working together.”
The action will begin at 10am and will include Fire and Rescue NSW demonstrating a HAZMAT rescue and urban search, SES will be dealing with large animal and vertical rescue, NSW Ambulance and CSU Paramedic students attending to advanced trauma and first aid and RFS and VRA will attend with a road crash rescue
“The finale will see a major rescue incident played out where NSW Police will demonstrate their control and put all the emergency services to work in a complex rescue situation,” he said.
“This will demonstrate each organisation’s skill and the cooperation between agencies when providing rescue services.
“There will be lots of things going on but we are encouraging the public to come on down and have a look around.
“It really is a showcase of what we can do and what we all do when an emergencies happens.
“People are curious about what happens at some situations and now in a safe environment they can come and have a look.”
