Weatherzone meteorologist Kim Westcott said a low pressure system will drop temperatures quite significantly in the coming days.
“Looking ahead to the weekend you can expect a chance of showers in Port Macquarie each day between now and Monday,” Ms Westcott said.
“Depending on where you live along the coast there will be showers but we only expect 1-5mm each day.
“The unstable weather is due to a low pressure system and temperatures will drop to the mid to low 20s as the weekend goes on.”
Ms Westcott said the despite the perceived cold snap this weather is typical for this time of the year.
“This cooler weather is expected to continue into the early part of next week but is fairly typical,” she said.
“There is the potential for storms over the weekend but more likely in the mountains than on the coast.
“The seas will also not be great with the swell and seas expected to be 1-1.5m.
“If you had to go out Saturday morning would probably be the better time to go.”
