World oil prices have been falling consistently for three weeks thanks to a significant increase in oil production in the Middle East.
That, combined with a stronger Australian dollar, means we should be seeing more significant discounts at the bowser.
In Port Macquarie however, unleaded petrol prices have remained steady at 161.3 cents a litre.
For the past two weeks the average for unleaded in Port Macquarie has remained at the higher price, and it’s a similar story throughout the Mid North Coast.
- Rebecca Page, NRMA
Rebecca Page, a spokesperson for NRMA, said prices should be on their way down.
"We’ve started to see some very small falls over the last week across the state but those falls are taking their time reaching Port Macquarie," she said.
"For the past two weeks the average for unleaded in Port Macquarie has remained at the higher price, and it’s a similar story throughout the Mid North Coast.”
While other regions are starting to see at least one or two cent drops on average, Port Macquarie is yet to see a change - but that should improve in the coming weeks.
"We should expect those price drops to start to really take effect in the next two to three weeks in Port Macquarie, just in time for the lead-up to Christmas," she said.
"What we want the public to do is shop around – check the NRMA app before you fill up, every time you fill up.
"Check the prices in your local area, we have the live prices in the app for every service station in the state so we will help you find the cheapest price wherever you are heading."
