A development application seeks approval to build a two-storey teaching, learning and administrative building, adjust the stage one car park to allow service vehicle entry to the stage two car park and construct a 2.5 metre-wide shareway in John Oxley Drive to assist pedestrians and cyclists to negotiate the precinct.

CSU announced the $40 million campus expansion in October with Lahey Constructions awarded the stage two expansion construction contract.

The first stage of the campus opened for business in 2016.

The planned stage two development flows from the existing campus via a link way across the reserve.

The stage two building will have two floors.

The ground floor will provide flat floored and tiered teaching facilities with break-out spaces, laboratory, meeting room, multi-faith room, student kitchen, toilets and service areas.

The second level will feature a general science laboratory, work spaces, meeting and interview room, teaching spaces, reception area, toilets and service area.

The plan is for students to have 24-hour a day access to the new building.

The development application said the campus would provide 423 car parking spaces at the completion of stage two.

The Northern Joint Regional Planning Panel will determine the application for the stage two building and associated works.

The development application documents are on exhibition at Port Macquarie-Hastings Council until November 7.

Meanwhile, stage two early works, which have been assessed and determined to proceed, are expected to start in January 2019.

The early works include a 96-space car park, road and pedestrian links from stage one, temporary works compound and vegetation removal.
